Release the Fist
Release the fist
I’ll peel back your knuckles one by one
Until I see your heart line
Until I see the veins beneath that translucent skin
Until you exhale empty
Let it all be
They claim disillusionment for the system
Detach and delusion
They disclose as the secret solution
Then pray for an outcome
That digs them further into the ditch
I’ll show you me, vanquishing fear
Outcome, there’s no such thing
It’s all inside me
I have everything I need
Income only
Now only
Transmissions we receive with open palms
Persistance
The shrubs and trees that endured winter’s sleep
Are now blessed awake with a verdure bloom
The substratum of fields finally yields
Fuzzy brambles and the sticker burs return
Coppices rustle and shift to reveal
The great dome of the armadillo’s spine
Bugs run amuck to escape the bird’s lunch
Those once dormant reanimate with life
Da capo, nature’s music has commenced
The footstep chewing on dry prickled grass
Leaves that tremble when they kiss each other
Pouncing squirrel skitters up the tree bark
Morning dove coos. Northern cardinal sings
Persistance is rewarded in the Spring.
